Community Leaders Awarded For Helping Bethesda’s Homeless

Two men who helped smooth the way for permanent homeless housing in downtown Bethesda received awards this month from the developer.

As a result of their work, 12 formerly homeless Montgomery County residents now reside in Lasko Manor, the new $4.3 million, 12-unit permanent housing complex for the formerly homeless on Hampden Lane, owned and managed by the Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County (HOC), a nonprofit housing developer.

HOC honored David Dabney, executive director of the Bethesda Urban Partnership, and Ken Hartman, director of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center, at its annual meeting Feb. 1.

B-CC Restaurant Week is BACK! Dine at one of over 30 participating restaurants and enjoy a prix-fixed gourmet menu of the best that each restaurant has to offer. Restaurants may offer a 2-course lunch and/or a 3-course dinner — however, each restaurant will also offer its standard fare at regular prices. Winter Restaurant Week 2012 runs from Monday, January 23 thru Sunday, January 29.
